Why hasn't my GPA went up

Hi. I’m a high school junior who’s GPA is a 2.59. I have taken 0 AP courses only because my school won’t allow me to because of my career pathway choice(I want to major in film and television). My last semester in 10th grade, I had an A, two B’s and a high C(79%). Now that my first semester of junior year is over, my final grades are 90, 83, 73,73, and 97. When I calculated my GPA,it was supposed to be a 2.8 but it’s STILL a 2.5!! Can someone please tell me what can I do to get my GPA up before this year is over because I REALLY REALLY want a 3.5/3.6 by the end of junior year if it’s possible. Thanks in advance!

Talk to your guidance counselor.

Simple math = if you have a 2.5 avg for five semesters, even if you get a 4.0 for your last semester this year it will only bring your average up to 2.75. If you are at 2.8 now, a 4.0 will bring you up to 3.0. That is as high as you can get.

If I did the math correctly, your current GPA should have gone up modestly to about a 2.65 (assuming 3.7, 3, 2, 2, 4).

You can use online GPA calculators to see what’s possible. For example, here is one:
