Hi, I applied to UMN-TC October 20th to CBS and CLA as a backup. A lot of my friends who have lower ACTs and GPAs than me have been accepted making me antsy about my acceptance as I applied before all of them. I didn’t put in my common app essay when I applied but I did have 2 recommendations, and did the 2 supplemental essays. I just want to know if I have chance or I haven’t heard back because I haven’t been accepted.
My Stats:
ACT- 26
GPA- 3.878(weighted)
Activities: NHS, Track, Nordic Skiing, Soccer, Peer Tutor, Volunteerism at multiple places, GirlUp, service trip, and other small clubs at my school
Taken multiple AP’s and honor classes since freshman year(gpa is lower due to my lack of motivation freshman year)
Letter in academics
Multiple recognitions for my academics
I haven’t heard back either! I think your ACT might be slowing them down a bit as my GPA is for me. My hope is that we will hear back by the 16th as that’s the due date for regular admission applications. Good luck!
26 should be fine for CLA but wondering a bit about that GPA. What is the unweighted value? (I realize your school might not provide that but colleges unweight everything in order to compare apples-to-apples so it’s good for you to know that #),
Also, for your friends who have already been admitted, what college are they admitted to: CBS, CLA, etc. ?
3.85 or something along those lines, i know it is not that much less than weighted. they were admitted to CLA.
@jjcookies13 - given the information in your posts, UMN may still be figuring out whether to put you in CBS or CLA. CBS is pretty selective and your ACT unfortunately is below the 25th percentile. However, if you were a shoe-in for CLA you would have been accepted by now, as people are already getting admitted to their 2nd choices and you have observed that your peers with lower stats are being admitted to CLA. You can start eliminating the possible reasons why they wouldn’t have given you a decision and unless you have something like an incomplete application (which is easily checkable via your tracker) or an academic violation (which you obviously would know about), then you have to entertain the possibility that this continued hesitation might lead to very good news in the end. Fingers crossed for you!
We applied to the same colleges and I haven’t heard back either. We have flipped stats; I have a 29 ACT with a 3.5 GPA. The only kids I’ve seen so far accepted to CBS have been the 36 4.0 kids so hopefully there’s still room for us.
Hi! I’ve been accepted to CBS with a 30 on the ACT and then a 3.7 weighted GPA… I’m sure they are just stacked with applications right now and that’s why you haven’t heard back yet (I applied first week in September and heard back the right when they first sent out admission decisions). Just have some faith in yourselves, and double check to make sure all of your required materials are in because sometimes they glitch out (happened to my best friend), best of luck guys!
@Tanman6711 Do you know what your unweighted GPA was? Congrats btw!
My school doesn’t do unweighted GPAs so i do not know unfortunately, and thanks!
