Why I decided to attend Liberty University over all the other schools

I just was accepted by and am now attending Liberty University.
Reason 1 - I do not qualify for much aid and found the tuition was reasonable.
Reason 2 - They are tolerant of non-Left leaning students.
Reason 3 - There strict rules that many complain about to me means that there will be a more scholarly atmosphere conducive to studying.
Reason 4 - The beautiful campus, excellent sports programs and impressive facilities.

you didn’t mention any of the other schools so we don’t exactly have a frame of reference here

this isn’t very helpful at all

Are they tolerant of left leaning/progressive students?

Ok. What major and what are Liberty’s placement results in that field? I too, am interested in the other schools you considered.

Sure, as long they don’t take radical extremist steps, like supporting the Democratic Party.

Is this an advertisement for Liberty? I dont understand this post from a brand new account

No I am a real student that wanted to post my journey towards my degree. This is the first post of many that will follow.

Have you considered starting a blog or are you actually interested in receiving feedback and commentary about what you write on the Forum?

To many to list. But one of my main considerations was a school that I could start my studies online then physically attend when I am further along.

Are they tolerant of left leaning/progressive students? I do not know but when I was at Canton many of their professors weren’t very tolerant of right leaning students.

Have you considered starting a blog or are you actually interested in receiving feedback and commentary about what you write on the Forum? I plan to in the near future this seemed like a good place to get a feel for the academic world.

@Corbett a little more depth on the article is in order.

Media’s misrepresentation of club controversy
May 25, 2009 : Jerry Falwell, Jr.

A number of media sources recently reported that Liberty University banned Democrats from meeting on campus. One headline erroneously read: “Democrats at Liberty University forced to meet off campus.” Apparently many journalists do not let the facts get in the way of a juicy, agenda-driven story.

The story was spun out of control from the beginning, when Terry McAuliffe, a Democratic gubernatorial candidate for Virginia, called a telephone press conference to talk about the College Democrat club formed by students of Liberty University.

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Only a few sentences are allowed to be quoted from any outside source, so I deleted most of this quote.

Did you consider any other schools? What major and career are you seeking?

I don’t understand all these people being hyper-critical of your choice. I say, to each his own. Don’t tear others down. I’m sure that @GaelicAmericanRoadScholar has done his research. I don’t know why you would assume otherwise from the outset.

@Studious99 - Where do you see any one being hypercritical? It is a discussion forum. A statement was made, we asked some questions that are typically part of college selection. Goodness, I haven’t even stated an opinion yet.

“this isn’t very helpful at all”
“Is this an advertisement for Liberty?”

@TQfromtheU

Looking back, maybe I misread the tone over the internet on some of these comments. But they seemed unnecessarily intense on what may have been a faulty first read-through.

@Corbett a little more depth on the article is in order.

“The University has not banned Democrats from campus. Nor has the Democrat club been banned from meeting. And, never has the University or its officials said that a person cannot be a Christian and a Democrat.”

As I am limited to only three sentences in a relevant quote here balancing what Corbett previously posted here is the link to the complete OP ED by a LU representative.

@TOfromtheU I considered many, but after weighing all the facts relevant to my personal situation LU was the best fit for me.

@Studious99 - Most threads start with a question or request. This one started with a statement, but incomplete information. Statements can come off as advertisements without additional information. I’ve heard of Liberty but don’t know anything about their post-graduation results. If the OP or you know, this would be a great opportunity to tell us that also.

@Studious99 I have noticed that some have hostile views regarding those whom do not follow their Progressive views as is prevalent by many educators. I did not get that vibe at LU. This was one of my reasons for me and my hard earned money to go there.
