A) Is that so hard to believe? I’m not saying this is necessarily true, but, honestly, you only need the top 200 kids every year to go on to become major politicians, major business executives, major figures in the entertainment industry to continue the idea that ALL of your students go on to do things like that. I know some adult HPY graduates. They’re all doing well as lawyers, academics, etc, but they’re life paths aren’t anything that would make you go WOAH!!”

B) They are held in high regard because people know their name; people know their name because hey are held in high regard. It’s a chicken and the egg thing. At this point, HYP are “THE” schools in our nation, which means they are the ones all the smart TV movie characters go to, the’re the dream for smart TV characters, etc. So more people have heard of them. Someone who knows about colleges will be very impressed with any sort of an Ivy (or top school), but someone who hasn’t done their research is more likely to be impressed by HPY because they are more likely to have heard of it/know it’s good.
