Unfortunately, many of the FSU academic advocates are not very happy with the way the Noles are running the SUS. I tend to agree with them.

^ I think you are painting too many FSU Alumni with a broad brush.

Yes, it is a fact that FSU Alumni have major influence amongst the Legislative Branch, their staffers, state employees, lobbying firms, and even has one of there own as Governor.

But the thing is they govern very differently from when the Old Boys of Florida were running the show. Back then everyone was a Dixiecrat and would rather vote for a yellow dog, then to put in a Republican. But the state has changed, and the support for public Higher Education is being challenged nation-wide.

Right now the State University System has a weak Board of Governors and it’s easy for the top Florida GOP brass to push them around as they see fit. Also have a few select lobbying firms that are exerting major influence over Florida’s Higher Education Policy.

It is not a pretty sight, but FSU & UF Alumni are equally to blame for allowing this to happen in the first place.

I agree that things have been changing recently. Unfortunately, thinks might change again for the worse these politicians get their way and pull off this shuffling of jobs to fill the vacant head of the BOG position. FSU alumni are still very bitter with King.

I would imagine that King is out of the running (medical issues).

I have a feeling that Stephen MacNamara is the front-runner - Just a guess and have no sources to back it up.

I am currently in the midst of choosing Florida schools, and my three main ones are UM, UF, and FSU. So far, FSU looks by far to be the most down to earth and least arrogant school out of all of them. And everyone says the campus is beautiful!

Definitely the most beautiful in Florida, imo.

My D and I took campus tours this summer of both UF and FSU.
FSU won hands down
- beautiful campus
-friendly students and faculty even cafeteria workers in Suwanee
-evident pride in academics as well as sports (well rounded)
-D wants to go to FSU and does not see why UF.

UF campus tour was awful. I checked mentally after the 3rd mention of the word LIBARY instead of LIBRARY. Admissions people don’t care and it showed.
no one smiled at us while on campus or offered a “HI” every single student we came across was rushing with faces to the ground.
What campus??? UGLY. carrilon or no carrilon

D’s choice for Florida, is FSU

Thanks for the update! If you have any questions about FSU we’ll try and answer them.

Cheryl Hines from “Curb You Enthusiasm” went to FSU. I love that show :P

DISlike: anthro program suspension D:

Yep! Cheryl Hines went to FSU, and so did Hunter S. Thompson!

I looked at their notable alumni list and they had a lot of awesome people go there.

Now that is a notable alumnus. Hunter S Thompson operated on a different level. Fear and Loathing baby. I never fully understood, but I enjoyed the ride.

Wow awesome! HAHAH Richard Simmons did too! Burt Reynolds, JIM MORRISON.

He’s not in the alumni directory…guess he did not receive a degree from FSU.
