why i think housing is admission indicator

i was able to do the housing application all the way up to having to pay the $45 fee. why would USC allow rejected applicants to pay $45 dollars to a school they were rejected to? just saying.

Agreed ibmx. Makes sense. But we need someone who has received a decline to try it for us.

I think USC probably did not anticipate people trying to apply without knowing they got in, or willingly paying $45 with no guarantee they have been admitted. As jazz/shredder mom pointed out in another thread, the success rate so far has been too good - as much as I’d like for us all to be in, 4 out of 5 of us will be rejected, so by now someone would have HAD to failed to register.

Or its a ploy to get free money…muahahahaha

well if you think about it, the majority of people on collegeconfidential are very intelligent…and how many people are in these forums who actually applied? 10 or 12?

But still, statistically someone would have been rejected from registration by now…

ibmx, read previous years threads on cc to see the multitudes of people sadly reporting their rejections, as will unfortunately happen here soon as well. I love your optimism, but I greatly fear you are giving people false hope. And that’s what bothers me.

Also, it says on the housing site (somewhere in the registration process, I forget) that any accounts established without a valid USC ID will be deleted and the deposit is not refundable. If you are not accepted, at some point, your USC ID will be invalid.

Wishful thinking is fine, and although I doubt it, I hope you are correct. But spreading rumors can cause pain.

Lots of schools accept (even encourage) non-refundable housing application fees before you are admitted.

We need someone who actually received a rejection letter to see if he/she can register for housing. If he/she can, then we know that this is not a reliable way to try “cheating” the system and finding out our admissions decisions early.

Well I made an account for housing and I mixed up my first and last name by accident. I sent USC Housing an e=mail and they fixed it for me…without deleting my account. Good sign?

Hope so kev!

We established in the other big thread that housing DOES NOT indicate admission status.

Someone who unfortunately received a rejection letter was still able to make a housing account.

Well yeah, but they say that they will delete invalid accounts. My point was that I made an account, contacted USC, had them change some information for me, and they did so without deleting it.

What’s the link to the housing site? I’d like to give it a try :D

Every time this thread gets bumped Rebecca Black sings about another day of the week.

Good things come to those who wait! There really isn’t any guarantee with the housing app… we’ve already established that it does not work as a “backdoor” to admissions. Just wait for the decision to come :)
