hi im a new user so bear with me please!
ive been working on my college applications but am confused about one thing:
the dreaded "why do you want to go to _____ University?" question.
The problem is that I don't feel that I know enough to determine what I want to do with the rest of my life, so I'm mostly Undecided.
What kind of things are colleges looking for when they ask this question?
help please!

You don’t have to say what you want to study or major in, but rather why you want to attend this college over any other one. Try and look for unique aspects about the college to touch on, and explain why you’re looking for those aspects in a college.

Read through some of the advice in this thread as well:

^ Wow, I never thought of the question that way. I figured it was just practice for when your parents asked the same question once you’d been accepted. You know:

Student: “Dad, Mom, I’ve decided to attend University _______ and I need $180,000.”

Parental: “Wow, University _______ is a good school. Congratulations for getting in. But $180,000 … I don’t know. Tell me, why do you want to attend University _______ ?”
