Your question is a good reason why I stopped posting here, actually (though I don't confuse their "stats" for intelligence). I'm a pretty bad student; in fact, I failed my third class this semester (which I'm not proud of, BTW) - but I know I'm going to succeed in my chosen field. Arrogant? Yes. Truthful? Of course.

I don't relate to many people here, but I'm a little weird in the sense that I'm by no means a model student, but I think about college pretty often. Whatsername hit the nail on the head when she said the average CC poster is a great student, therefore posts on CC.

Don't be intimidated around here, because you are speaking among the elite student population (in general) and when people around here complain that they have an A- in honors AP advanced Nuclear Physics, they're not really worried, they're just stroking their ego's.

lol, you're right. I knew I hadn't logged in a LONG time, but I didn't know I only had 6 posts. :( I remember reading a lot of the material around here though, so I think that's why I forgot.

Yes, think of the CC population as mainly the highest echelon of students and their fretful parents. I agree, though, with the caveat that there is an abundance of stat-inflation and ego-stroking, by virtue of the anonymity that the Internet affords. When posting a chance thread, keep in mind that the people appraising you are likely the same people who are competing against you in the admissions process at the top schools, a conflict of interest larger than you might expect.

wow this sure started a huge thing haha
well thanks i guess
and im not confusing smarts with hard work
trust me i work hard, and i know its tough
i guess yesterday i was just so frustrated with how everyone here can manage a good grade and i cant
i have nothing against any of you, i was just letting out my frustration
but thanks for all the answers :)

^ Yup. Only self achieving, motivated people would actively seek out college information on the internet (when there are plenty of other things to do). That's what got me here, the day I realized my counselors didn't even know that Stanford was in California.

I wish I had known about this site freshman year. I could have definitely have used the stats info. Our school literally knows nothing about out of state schools, let alone how to get into them.

i have horrible work habits
let's see
-i dont take notes in class when everyone is taking notes
-i do NOT do HW at all even when teh teacher is collecting it
-i probably study for 1 for every 10 tests i got in high school
-i don't do anything at home, no hw or studying and i sleep at like 11
-i copy ppls homework all the time
-i do not pay attention at all...i'm probably doing next period's homework or just plain daydreaming about what i'm gonna do at home

if life was fair i would be failing school and taking remedial classes

^^ I'm the same, I have terrible study habits...
I've never actually done homework at home, I've never studied for a test, and I've never taken notes...
So... you can't attribute the acheivements of all CCers to their work ethic, because I'm willing to bet that's not the case for many people.

I can honestly say that there are people who are NOT hardworking on CC. Lurkers (like me) that don't want to post their stats up on CC.

My average would be failing by CC standards and to be honest I don't really care that much. I've never taken the SAT, I don't do many extracurriculars, and I'm confident that I'll be happy no matter where I end up.

I don't doubt that I'll do well later on in life, even if my high school grades don't reflect that.
