So i have a FAFSA deadline do tomorrow and have been trying to call in for 3 days in a row, and they're are always closed for god damn system enhancements! ***?! I also tried a week ago and they were closed for the same stupid reason. This is just really making me mad especially because I live in Hawaii and have only 1 hour after school everyday to make these phone calls before they close. But hey it's not like they answer anyways.

I just felt like venting all my frustration >:[

I think I reached them last year on a Saturday. But I think they are in Illinois (odd location, perhaps…) so you will need to account for rather large time change, as you are in Hawaii!

There are times when you do need to talk to someone at FAFSA. For example, S is considering a GIS certification program that is a post-baccalaureate program but not part of a MS or PhD program. Emailing FAFSA provided no answer but talking to a real person there did. Found out I had to contact the school’s finaid dept and ask them how they considered the student (dependent or not). Turns out this was one of the few cases where a student would still be considered an dependent. Not sure if anyone on CC could have provided an answer.

CSleslie, you are probably right…maybe the answer would not have been here. BUT one of us could have told you to call the finaid office to find out the answer!! Glad you got the FAFSA folks, however.

There ISN’T any payment. Were you at FAFSA.ed.gov? or did you go to FAFSA.com? FAFSA.com is a FOR PROFIT organization that requires you to pay to submit something that you can submit for FREE through the FAFSA.ed.gov site.

With any luck you can cancel the one that charges and just do it for free.
