Why is GT not a CC top college?

CC Top Universities - College Confidential

Other schools on that list: Rice, North Carolina, Michigan, and Virginia. The only reason for which I could imagine those schools getting said shout-out over Georgia Tech is due to the breadth of their offerings; however, MIT is also on the list. If you look at the average pedigree and value of a degree (this admittedly does favor GT due to its lack of unemployable majors) and compare those of Tech to those of Michigan or Virginia or UNC, no way does Tech not come out on top.

Mildly annoying. I think that being an upper-middle class man's MIT is worthy of inclusion to CC's top colleges, at least based on the criteria that would let schools like Rice and North Carolina in.

I was wondering the same.

The majority of the posters are in love with the USNW rankings.

It also is neither a LAC or in the Northeast which makes many CCers overlook it.

I keep going to the top list to look for it, and am surprised that it is in the alphabetical listings. But the location does hurt it. We’ve been told by recruiters that they don’t recruit from any schools in the South except for Georgia Tech, so I guess being in the top of the Southern league is the most recognition they’re going to get on a national basis.

@Montegut - can you share which recruiters you are referencing? Thanks

but another possible reason it might be not be on that list, may be the fact any non-engineering major is very average at GT. GT is mainly prestigious for engineering and not for its other majors.

GT has a high accpetance rating (52% on cappex). Guess that does not let it qualify.

^ It was 39% this past year
