Harard's best time on the year for the 100m is a pathetic 11.7. Come on I was doing that at 13. Their 200m is also a pathetic 22.77. They have scratched all their 4x100m and 4x200m relays, because they can't find 4 guys to field one. They couldn't even find anyone indoors to run a decent 60m. Why is harvard so bad at male sprinting? Any current students have an answer? (Princeton on the other hand has about 4-5 guys who can run the 10.6-10.9 range).

The team, overall, is quite weak right now.

As I understand it, former coach Haggarty pretty much stopped recruiting for the past ten years or so, good athletes would appear randomly looking for a Harvard education but that was about it.

The young first year coach has his work cut out for him. His background is mid-distance/distance, maybe he will place emphasis there. The Ivy League is quite competitive in track right now, parity with Princeton, Cornell etc. will not come quickly or easily at this point.

Looking at dyestat college commitments page, this year will bring in some very accomplished kids for Harvard, but no real top names that I recognize (and of course some names may not be listed). Often these kids can excel in college under new coaching, time will tell.

Not sure what the Harvard football coach thinks of track participation, but some football coaches discourage it, which would eliminate many top sprinters. Shortsighted in my opinion, and I have no idea if this applies to Harvard situation.

1MX - Sounds like the track coach could be a great ally for you if you're planning to apply!

Yes, it seemed too good to be true that I would have such an advantage in such a competitive admissions process. Tribeca mom must be right on, because they have very good 400m-3200m runners, but absolutely nothing but a few periodic football players for the sprints, and even those players can't run outdoor in the spring.

Where do you find the Times at?

And do you know where their CC times are?

They are quite good at XC. www.gocrimson.com Just check out the results, or XC Bests 2006.
