Why is it always about love/lust?

let me clarify my argument:

Courtship and libido (sexual drive) are a mechanisms propagated through evolution to ensure favorable genes are passed onto offspring and to ensure the survival of the human race.

So, my advice to you is to enjoy what god has given you.

Meh, I like to take advantage of what science has given us. New Era = New methods, but that's just me.

Oh, and God didn't directly give me anything. He may have created the universe in the beginning but what has he done in the past 15B+ years? NOTHING

Well, what have we done? We've taken the same exact things that were here 15 Billion years ago and rearraged them into "new" things. Oh, and nearly destroyed the world.

Aren't we awesome?

pft. and they call me picky.

it's about finding the balance between the two, and daring to name that love.

Lol, humans FTMFL

I think it's just pointless to deny natural emotion for the wish to attain a higher sense of being. By casting away any emotion (as unnecessary as it may seem to the vain human), you cast away a bit of knowledge of yourself as a human. Not saying that you can't be happy without the "unnecessary" but it's pretty depressing (in my opinion) to analyze everything and not appreciate the superficial value of what is.

Certainly, we've come close to destroying the world. I find that amusing, in fact. Just imagine 500 different worlds, each with its own species that developed the intelligence necessary for technology. It's fairly predictable that most of these worlds would have been nearly destroyed by their intelligent organisms, given the behavioral traits of organisms that tend to "win" in the game of natural selection.

I am making a key assumption here: that life evolved anywhere must have come from natural selection.

This thought experiment, by the way, forced me to laugh at humanity, rather than to despair over it.

Lol @ Jakor, I'm not saying anyone needs to "analyze everything," in fact I am saying that people should act indifferentl, just like how they should not let other people anger them with their empty words of insult.

piccolojunior: Sorry, the "One would expect me to be some devout religious celibate; nah, I'm a deist who believes strongly in scientific principles." and the genetic-engineering children bit had me thrown off a bit there, lol. And not the entire sentiment was in regard to your comment, but to the over-analysis brought on by this thread in general.

Oh lol, ok yeah this thread went waaaaaaay beyond what I had in mind lol.

...That doesnt make any sense. To assume that loving someone is automatically illogical and unreasonable is a bit heartless don't you think?

I mean, I do agree that teenagers are driven by hormones, but there are definitely countless others who operate on different standards and suppress lust by all means necessary. Generalizing the entire 13-18 year old age group is quite otherizing...seeing as how you automatically label them as these sex-driven maniacs.

And....wow. I hope you find someone someday.

No, that was just when someone else had miffed me over this debate (not on CC) so I went overboard on "teh invective" lol. Not all, but MOST are hormone-driven and that's all there is to it...then again I can only talk from experience from my school and everyone except for me and 3 or 4 other people live on excess hormones.

And...don't worry I will not fall so low for a wooman! VERY NICE! thumbs up

Well...good luck to you then.

this thread spits da truff like lil wayne.
