A couple of my friends have to attend summer bridge because it is required. Why is it required for some people?

It could be a special requirement in their conditions of admission - that Cal saw deficiencies in their record or known issues from their school, or perhaps they are missing mandatory a-g courses but are offered the chance to complete them in summer bridge. All speculation, don’t know the reason or even IF there are students required to attend this summer.

Just another way for them to take your money. Yes it’s a conditions of admission for some because they come from low scoring schools or they did not take many AP classes. The sad part is that the program offers crappy classes.

whoa, never heard of this. that sucks.

i dont think this is true, because im doing summer bridge, but only because i want to. its not mandatory.

summer bridge is to help students with the transition from high school to college.

yeah, i never heard of this either. i guess the UCs really want to milk the money.

It is mandatory for some students. Summer bridge is listed as a condition of admission for some of my friends. Anybody who wants to do summer bridge can.
