Why is life not fair?

Thanks so much. Im very hopeful that things will work out somehow. If I put in the effort I think i'll get what I deserve in the end. I'm glad I have some fans now!

Some schools do not require the SAT because they know there are many talented kids like you out there who do not test well.

Consider this your first big test ... can you get past it?

While at Harvard business school in the 50's my father in law had a very instructive experience. His class took a very important finance test but ... the teacher flip flopped the grades on purpose. He gave the Fs to all of the A students and visa versa with the average students staying the same. His message was life is not fair ... what counts is what you do about it. If you have a windfall of an "A" (lots of luck) do you run with it. If you were given an "F" but deserved an "A" did you sulk or start getting yourself out of the hole.

You know what you are made of ... figure out how to let the admissions officers know....

for those interested my act scores are in. I got a 29. Decent for a first try I guess. I take the SAT again on the 4th so wish me luck.

29 is pretty good.
GL on your SAT :]

Great update! Bears repeating elswhere.

My dad's old school. Tell him something like you don't have aptitude, and he'll shoot you down with a hundred witty retorts about the importance of hard work.

Maybe there is such a thing as aptitude, but I know that I sucked at Math (failed a semester, too) in my IB exams, ended up continuing with Math HL, and ended up topping my class.

What did I do different? Last two months, I sat up till four am every night, and no, I wasn't watching movies. :)

supereagle..a 29 is a VERY good ACT...definitely says I am college challenge level and ready for the serious stuff in college...congratulations. If I were you, I would set your sights high...and perhaps take the ACT again, not the SAT...make sure though to take the ACT with writing and to practice in the Real ACTs.....after all, you already proved you are good at the ACT..second time could even bump it up more since you clearly paced yourself well in that long and tiring exam..get in fighting mode and do the same test again...where you are already succeeding.
I personally think a 29 is very good on its own merits.

remember many college kids who succeed on these tests are practicing at home..my boys did...not everyone can take these exams cold without losing points in dumb ways...get test saavy...get to be the ACT strategy king.

you are on your way to some good applications with a 29
