why is mich awsome?

i got accepted and i was wondering why do people love mich so much? is it fun? i jus want to know more about this school

I was accepted too, and wondering the same thing. I visited it in September, and loved Ann Arbor, but it was over their break so there weren't many students there and not much going on. Also is it always so COLD!?

Michigan football!!!

very rigorous academics. students from all over the world, and lots from both coasts in addition to the local MI/Chicago area people. big enthusiasm for football. Ann Arbor is a great college town, too.

clb_09: I've lived just outside ann arbor my whole life and yes, from about mid-October to about mid-march it is always cold. But after awhile you get used to it and if it's not cold that time of year it just doesn't seem right, almost seems uncomfortable. You learn to like it, that's the way I see it at least.

I'd also like to know; I kind of applied arbitrarily because my counselor told me I could probably get in, but I don't know anything about it besides that it likes the color blue and it seems to be a big football school. Now the cold I can stand because I live for cold weather, but what's it like socially? Academically? The dorms? The size of Greek life? With regards to any other aspect you can tell me about? Thanks in advance!

You guys should check out the "Is Michigan weak in any way" thread above. It has over 400 posts, some positive, some negative. Overall, you will be hard-pressed to find a university that is more well rounded than Michigan.

Spazzity, below are answers to a couple of your questions:

-Dorms and dorm food at Michigan are nothing special, but Michigan is working on renovating its older dorms and building some new ones. It is also

-Greek life is visible, but not dominant. Roughly 15% of undergrads (10% of the total student body) belong to fraternities and sororities.

Lol, so true. The cold is not a big deal and doesn't take long to get used to. (I lived in a desert country for most of my life.)

Ok thanks! I live in Minnesota, so its about the same I guess. I'm used to the cold, but I was really hoping to get away from it!
