Why is MSU making me take the SBEI survey?

It makes no sense why I wasn’t accepted already. Does this mean I was differed?

I applied 10/31 and all info was received 11/2

Stats:
ACT: 35
GPA UW: 3.57
7 APs ( bio, world, spanish, english, statistics, psychology, calculus)
8 Honors classes
2 Club leadership positions, NHS, Rotary Interact, 100+ Volunteer hours

wtf…

I was accepted in October, and I had to take the survey. I believe they require all accepted students to take the SBEI survey. Not sure about differed applicants.

I applied Nov 1st and was accepted Dec 23rd. You should be accepted. Your ACT score is far above their average. Here are my stats:

[ *] Job/Work Experience: None
[ *] Volunteer/Community service: Volunteered at three hospitals, Red Cross, and several other places (350 hours).
[ *] Summer Activities: Volunteered

If they are asking you to take the SBEI survey, then it is virtually certain that you have been accepted already (and with the information you have provided, you should have been). Here is the official link to the actions that admitted students are supposed to take, with the SBEI survey among them:

https://admissions.msu.edu/admission/transfer_admittedsteps.asp

You will see that this is for admitted students. This SBEI survey is not the same one that you can find under Survey Monkey, or in other locales. The university wants to know about your background and experiences, in order to better allocate resources for the students who enroll.

I haven’t seen the survey, but would guess that since MSU admits students whose first language is not English, they want to know how many support staff they need, distributed over different languages. They need to know about support staff for students who need various types of accommodation. I hope they are also asking questions that will help them figure out how many honors sections to offer in various courses–not sure whether they are doing this, or not. That would be appropriate for you, though.

@quantmech Thanks for the reply but my application status still reads:

Your application to Michigan State is still under review. Due to increases in the quantity and quality of the freshman application pool for the fall semester, our office is carefully monitoring space and conducting thorough examinations of all fall semester applicants. Although no new information is available at this time, you will receive a decision on the status of your application on or before March 25, 2016.

Please DO NOT send any additional documents to our office unless specifically requested; doing so will delay the review process for your application.

We kindly ask that you refrain from phoning or emailing the Office of Admissions during this extended review period. The most up-to-date information will be posted to your online student portal as soon as it becomes available.

I am honestly dumbfounded right now…

I find this really odd because they never asked for my 7th semester grades. They only made me take this stupid survey…
