WHY IS OOS RATE SO LOW?

So I've been reading the stats of TAMU, and I've noticed that the OOS stats are really low. Why is that? And also, I have another question, what is the stats of an ideal auto admit?

@‌1234PJ4321 For academic admission (auto admission), you need “combined SAT score of at least 1300 (Math and Critical Reading) with at least a 600 in each of these components, or composite ACT score of at least 30 with at least a 27 in the Math and English components,” and must meet the other requirements listed at: http://admissions.tamu.edu/freshman/admitted

Texas has over 26 million residents and is still growing. Texas and Texas A&M are the two flagship universities that serve this huge state, so they are incredibly popular destinations for high school graduates. On top of that, as you will see in the link above, A&M must take all students that graduate in the top 10% of their class. After accepting the top-10% and academic admissions, there is very little room for OOS students.

By contrast, Indiana has around 6.5 million residents, two flagship universities (Indiana and Purdue), and no auto-admissions for top-ten graduates. So they have far more room for OOS students.

I see from other threads that you are interested in Aerospace Engineering. My son is an OOS freshman engineering major who should be admitted into AE next semester. TAMU’s AE program is top notch and the State of Texas has the second most aerospace jobs in the country.
