I took an Intro to Accounting class at CC and under NJ Transfer Evaluate courses from that school to Rutgers, the course equivalent to it is Intro to Financial Accounting. Under my Degree Navigator, that Accounting course I took is listed under "Course that do not apply to major". Im in Financial now and just realized today from the syllabus that I did all of this. Im seeing my advisor tomorrow to see if he can do anything so I don't have to take it, as it's a very hard class for an intro one at RU.

What kind of BS is this? This school seriously gets on my nerves. There's a catch to literally everything with them.

“Business Courses: Students may not take business courses outside of Rutgers-New Brunswick. All business courses must be taken on the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus, with the exception of Intro to Financial Accounting and Intro to Managerial Accounting, which may be taken at another school (including Rutgers-Newark and Rutgers-Camden) ONLY with pre-approval from our office, and ONLY if the course is not being repeated. We will not grant permission fot these two courses to be taken outside of Rutgers-New Brunswick during the winter session. The Business School will not grant credit for any online business courses outside of Rutgers-New Brunswick.”

My advice: From now on, always get preapproval for any outside classes through your RBS advisor, before you commit to a class outside of Rutgers NB (in other words, get your approval in with plenty of time to cancel your registration and get your money back if it is not approved).

It looks like those two courses are ok as long as you have been preapproved for them. Since you have not been, the decision will be up to the advisor/dean. They might ok it, they might not.

They are very strict and they do not usually make exceptions about anything (no special permission numbers for business classes, etc.)

This is most difficult when you get shut out of a “required” class during the semester you are supposed to be taking it, because so many students are registering at the same time. They will say to you “just take it next semester”. It can be very frustrating.

Submit this in time for them to get your approval back to you. For ex, if you plan on taking a summer course outside of the school, get it in acouple of weeks before your final payment is due.

My son signed up for an Expos 2 course at a cc and his preapproval form was rejected because he was already a Rutgers student (and therefore had to take his expos 2 @ Rutgers). He had time to cancel his registration and get his money back because he submitted it early.
