Why is the admission rate for international applicants much lower?

@ MrPropapanda: That’s make two of us. I’m applying from HK as well. Besides, I’m a Canadian as well. We share a lot of demographic background.

LOLed at the deq discussion earlier on. only happens in an MIT forum!

Ken where do you live? Which school do you go to? Just wanna know. :P

I live in Kowloon City… For school, I have to make sure that you aren’t in any of my rival schools first.

I live in Tseung Kwan O. Lol I lived in Kowloon CIty when I was young. Amazing. WHich school? I’m international school.

I’m from DBS, that’s why I have to make sure you aren’t from SJC or LSC lol.

What is SJC? I’m from YCIS. a very crappy school imo. Lol. I hope there’s no teachers here.

I bet not.

SJC = St. Joseph’s College

ANything interesting abt yourself?

An IMO silver medalist and a math geek.

IMO as in ‘In my opinion’

or International Math Olympiad?

****, I am not an Olympiad. So does that mean I won’t get admitted? D=

I Math O, not In my opinion.
Well, there are two of our city’s delegation applying to MIT this year…

delegation? do u have msn, or facebook? perhaps its better to im instead. green face very scary

Damn, I thought those distinctions are a typical US thing. Very nice. I got nothing. I participated in the physics and maths Olympiad but I did not even pass the first round, lol.

I didn’t even know academic contests existed. Where did you guys hear about these things?

My school math team is the 3rd best team in the city, so I was naturally recruited.

I got a Second Honour in the China National math thing, but that was a few years ago…

Just so you know, there are no quotas for individual countries – just because there are currently 4x undergraduates at MIT from a given country, that does not mean that there are x seats available per year.

molliebatmit I agree with you…

According to GEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION OF STUDENTS 2007-2008 from MIT only 3 students got in as undergraduates from my country…But I 'm not woory about, because everything is possible…

So relax and everything is gonna be ok:)

We won’t be relaxing as

first of all: Last year the admission rate was below 4%
secondly: More people are applying. There are so many early applicants this year.

OMG OMG OMG! I want to go to MIT so much. And so do the others.
