Why is the Math 2 scored so weirdly

I was looking at my Sat II scores and I noticed my score of 800 on Math 2 was only 80th percentile. Why would it be that way. I get that only people that are good at math take it but 1/5 getting the highest mark is a lot. Why doesn’t CB change the curve so its harder to get an 800 or make the test harder. I’m not complaining or anything but it just doesn’t make sense from a testing standpoint to have a test that everyone does well on because then it wouldn’t really be testing anything.

The subject tests are not curved, per se. You get x number of questions right, you get an 800. File this under “it is what it is”

Don’t focus on percentiles. The percentiles for most Subject Tests are depressed because few colleges require/request them. The ones that do are generally the elite ones with low admissions rates anyway. As a result, the students who sit for these exams are very self selecting. No matter what way you slice it, an 800 is a great score!!
