Why is the PSAT used for scholarships but the SAT?

Maybe a 2300 is respectable enough in apps so no scholarships are given out.

Hmmm

Everyone knows that the SAT is important so they study a lot for it, however the PSAT doesn’t count in college admissions, so they give students the scholarships there, knowing they are isolating a certain student population. idk tho.

The PSAT is used as the National Merit Scholarship Qualification Test and has been for decades. That is the ONLY scholarship directly attached to it (certain schools have decided to offer their own scholarships for National Merit Finalists). Taking the test in the Junior year gives enough time to provide a certifying test and the documentation the National Merit Scholarship Corp requires to evaluate and award the scholarships. There are MANY schools that offer scholarships for good grades and High SAT/ACT scores. Look in the Financial Aid forum for the Guaranteed Scholarships thread.
