People ask me this all the time and I have some thoughts on this but I’d like to hear from others. And it’s not because of breadth because the same thing would apply to psychology. UK offers A levels in sociology so what gives with the College Board?
Because the course of human geography exists. In human geo, students study aspects and concepts of sociology. Of course, College Board is an American company, so what the UK offers in terms of courses has nothing to do with what courses College Board offers.
Also, most schools barely offer all the APs offered, there’s no point in spending time and money on a new course that likely won’t be offered.
Not enough interest. Relatively few high schools offer sociology
Few universities offer sociology and I think this is a problem.
It is very sad that sociology is not appreciated now.
