Why is there so much hate for Davidson Hall?

They're tight nit, with lots of classic college green all around. There's a large parking lot as well, which is good for people with vehicles. There's a bus that stops right in front of it too! It's also less than a 5 min walk to the dining hall/campus center.

It's almost like it's own little park with benches, walking paths, bike racks, picnic tables, and trees and shrubs abound. There's a massive green field right in the middle of the 4 halls too, perfect for: "Hey man let's go out and play (insert sport here)."

The bathrooms are fairly new and the hallways and rooms look clean. The outside condition of the buildings, aside from a few age stains on the bricks, are fine. The rooms are pretty darn big as well, 18x12, with carpets and curtains.

The biggest downside is no AC which can be taken care of with a good dual window fan, or two box fans (one facing in from the hallway and the other out the window, or vice versa)

(messy room example, but you can still see the size) https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/68879_10150093793021959_2988990_n.jpg

And yes I am aware that these were the dorms where Tyler Clementi lived. But a tragic and devastating incident like that could happen anywhere.

Anyway, I personally don't see anything wrong with these dorms. I talked to 4 orientation leaders and staff at orientation who had Davidson their freshman year. When I told them I was in it, their faces literally lit up and they all said it was great and that they had some great times :) I'm in Davidson B btw, one of the Co-ed ones =D

1) The room looks bigger in the picture doesn’t it lol
2) See that bench? That’s where all the smokers hang out.
3) It won’t be so nice once you experience for yourself the agony of listening to deafening distasteful music in the hall. Because rooms are so hot, many students open their doors and windows…and then some of them decide to rock out at full volume.

Been there, and experienced it. Thank goodness I didn’t live in Davidson. My friend hated it too.

Why you crush my dreams? >.>

And if people smoke close, I report them, simple as that. I have no tolerance for smoke where it’s not supposed to be and I won’t hesitate to call even if I become the dorm tattle-tale. And when it comes to open doors and music… whatev. I have a good window fan, so I won’t need to prop my door open for a cross breeze. Basically, fingers crossed that the group of people in the dorm this year don’t suck is all. When did you visit Davidson may I ask?

Out of the freshman dorms on Busch, they are the smallest with no air conditioning. They’re also farther from the campus center and dining hall than many of the other dorms. It should be all right if you get along with the people in your building.

First of all, I’m sorry for crushing your dreams. I just want you to be prepared for what you’re about to encounter.

Second, you may think that you can just “report” the smokers to the RA. Go ahead and let’s see what happens. Chances are, he/she will tell them to stop smoking at first, and if (usually and most always) they keep smoking at the same spot, the RA won’t care anymore. You have to remember that RA’s are students, too. They’re busy, and to them, you will be “just another whiny freshman” who is “oversensative” to cope with the slightest change in his/her life. My friend who lived in Davidson didn’t have a very good relationship with his RA because of this.

I visited Davidson so many times that it’s not even funny. My friend was too lazy to walk over to BAMM, so basically, he begged me to come over every week.

They cant be THAT bad? Can they? Doesn’t every dorm have its faults? Now I’m sad again -_-

I’ve never been to Davidson B, but I presume it’s close enough to Davidson C where my friend used to live. I mean, you’re right. Every dorm has its goods and bads, and that also depends on the year.

For me, I despised most people at Davidson C because many of them were so unpleasant to talk to. You’ll also find that Davidson will be EMPTY on Friday nights because the place is filled with party freaks who flock to College Ave every week.

But look on the bright side
It may be different for you this year.

Which one is B btw, do u know?

http://ndbserver.rutgers.edu/images/zoom.jpg
(upper right, upper left, bottom right, bottom left?)

And I hope it is different :frowning: …and that’s a good thing lol, a dorm to myself on Fridays XD

I’m so scared/nervous now though… :(

Davidson C is the one on the far east side, so I assume B would be either of the two that are next to it.

Don’t be so nervous lol
Be calm and smile when you meet new people (and I failed at the smile part).

Behavior really depends on the people who live there or how good the RA is at enforcing rules. Also the AC in the other dorms can only be used in the beginning weeks of the fall semester and pretty much the last week or 2 weeks of the spring semester. You’re not at too big of a loss there, everyone suffers from the heat at some point.

You’ll be fine, keep your door open and be friendly.

I called my friend and asked. Davidson B is the one on the far north…or tilt your head to the right and Davidson B would be on the top left.

Yeah, so I can’t really picture what you mean about tilting my head right, but in that picture above where Davidson is featured in the upper right, which of the 4 "H"s would it be? (Here’s the pic again)

http://ndbserver.rutgers.edu/images/zoom.jpg

And I wanted to keep my door open from the start, drexeler, but if what Sixflags is saying is true about the type of people there, I may not want to :/

I figured it out  Also, can you help me by explaining the windows? I just realized that here I am relying on my awesome window fan, but if it doesn’t fit I’ll probably cry -_- How do the windows open exactly? Can it fit a dual window fan like this: http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/124/8/AAAAAljbi-EAAAAAASSH-A.jpg?v=1217452224000

If I remember correctly, I think the windows open outwards instead of up and down. The bottom part opens outwards, but I don’t know about the top part. I guess if the windows don’t slide open up and down, you can’t really fit your hard core fan…unless, of course, you decide to improvise.

Creativity never hurts either ;)

Yeah that’s what I’m trying to figure out  In this picture, https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/s720x720/543749_10150967428524252_1134167967_n.jpg which part of the window actually opens?

Lol, that’s a really good picture. Where do you get all these pics online D:
Anyway, of the 3 “sections” of the window, the bottom part opens. But you might be able to open other parts as well.

Facebook lol =P Ok so the section right above the bed, right? Not the 4th section divided into little boxes, correct? Because on fb, someone said that there’s only a small pathetic little 5x5 square that can be pushed out in some of the rooms :/

Six Flags, why do you say the kids there are jerks? Is it like that year in and out?

And how many people are there in each section/floor

Oh and to Zuzu, im in Davidson A what about u?

im in A as well

Yea, the 3rd section from the top opens for sure. Not sure about the 4th section.
