why is this ND board one of the least posted on?

compared to the other colleges, the ND board has very few posts. I would expect ND to have a better following than Georgetown, U of Chicago, Emory, ect. What's the deal guys? we need to inflate this post count!

Well lets get it started... I'll follow your lead andrew

I was wondering the same thing; it's not like there aren't lots of applicants to the school. Maybe they just don't know about CC.

Does anyone know how the admissions system works at ND? Is it just like the Ivies? I do know from the website that each region/state has their own admission counselor, but where does it go from there? Anyone know?

haha actually, when i was tehre for the EA science thing in feburary, they gave us an appointment with an admissions counselor (kind of weird since you are already admitted). But the whole time we talked about the admissions process to ND and heres how it works:

after all the materials are in, your regional counselor is the first one to read it. after that one random counselor reads it without consulting the first one. if the admission decisions are the same by each counselor, the decision stands. if they are different, the application gets sent to a committee that takes place after all the applications have been read. For EA, the ones they can't decide on get deferred, and for RD, they get waitlisted.

Andrew1218: I imagine one reason this gets less posting is b/c very few EA'ers post here- they post on the admitted students site. On other threads, you'll see many EA'ers still posting on CC. BTW, my d was at the Feb open house as well.

yeah, that makes sense. That board is nice, i have met a lot of cool people through there. how'd your daughter like ND? i loved it

One other question about admissions. Does anyone know when they started reading the RD apps? I was wondering if they started reading them before February 15 when the FAFSA had to be in. Does each regional adcom have a percentage they can accept/reject? How do they compare the apps with the bigger pool? Or do they?

sorry man, i don't know the specifics...

Tookie, if you're concerned that your financial situation would affect their admissions decisions, rest easy on that one. ND admissions are in no way affected by financial aid need, and all the university scholarships are based on need. They have a large endowment and are pretty generous with deserved aid. Be aware you also have to file the CSS Profile to be eligible for financial aid at ND, and send a copy of your taxes (and your folks') in - I believe (but check on this) the date for next year's possible freshmen to have their FA information in is March 15. For current students it's February 28 - we just finished ours.

Andrew1218- my d loves it as well. She's on campus a lot though so she already has many connections there, but this was her first overnight. She had a great time.
