Why is this so bad?

<p>If a 30 on the ACT exam is 97th percentile, and a 29 is 95th percentile, why is everyone on CC claiming that they're such poor scores, and that they're not Ivy and top LAC calibur?</p>

<p>Though those percentiles are pretty darn good, people have been giving me the impression that most of the competative people get over 30. Like 33-35, which as I understand it is close to perfect. It's like with the SATs: if you get 700s on everything, you are going to be in the top 95% of all kids in the nation who take it, but that's a 2100. Ivy leagues have a mean about 2250, or 750 per test. 700/30 is still a good score, though.</p>

<p>Remember, "SATs are less important than applicants think, but more important than any admissions officer will ever admit." That is to say, they count, but the other parts of your application are just as important.</p>
