I’ve received several rejections this past week, and Vanderbilt (one of the colleges i thought i had the least chance at) is one of the few lucky enough to have me, lol! I’m trying to stay positive here, so here’s my questions:
to applicants/prospective students: why do you love Vanderbilt?
to current students: what do you love about Vanderbilt now that you didnt gather from visits/pamphlets/mail/interview/ etc…?
Hi, i’m a prospective student of Vanderbilt and it’s my number one choice for many reasons. For starters, when I took my campus tour we were standing on the lawn in the center of the Commons and unannounced and unplanned, a faculty member came up to us and took 10 minutes to speak with us and talk about his love for the school. This simple gesture spoke volumes to me, and really made me feel home at Vanderbilt. Beyond that, the campus is absolutely stunning, and the dorms literally look like hotel rooms. Best of luck!
Hey @pierowayne ! I’m a rising sophomore at Vandy. First of all, congratulations on your admission. Don’t feel disappointed because at 9.5% RD acceptance rate (and probably 11-12% overall admit rate), Vandy saw the immense potential in you. Before coming to Vandy, I had done a lot of research on it and Vandy does indeed live up to its good reputation in academics and extra-curricular opportunities. For me, the thing I love most about Vandy is its community. Although the majority of the students here are some of the brightest and academically focussed in the nation, there is a culture of collaboration on campus. I haven’t ever faced unhealthy competition here.
This collaboration extends to extra-curricular activities as well. I am a member of a wide range of organizations, and it has been so rewarding to collaborate and learn from my fellow freshmen and upperclassmen while contributing to campus in a meaningful way.
Freshmen get to experience a wonderful network of support in Commons and as a future VUceptor, I can assure you that Vandy goes out of its way to make your transition to college as smooth as possible. I feel so fortunate to have lived on Commons and befriend other first-years through various events that take place on it. I wish I didn’t have to move out of it
To sum up, I love Vandy for its balance. Most students here are very intelligent, focussed and above all passionate, not just about their classes but also about the student organizations they are a part of. Moreover, the Commons experience is truly unique. I hope you will come to Vandy if everything works out. Good luck! (and anchor down hopefully!)
Oops, this was asked a month ago. I guess you’ve already made your decision. Anyway, good luck and I hope you chose Vandy
