Why is WASH U good?

I recently got accepted early to WASH U. What are WASH U's fortes besides medicine?

Please enlighten me and assist me!

The Olin B-School is really good (consistently in the top 30, if memory serves me), and their School of Social Work is #2 in the country.

Hehe do you know which school is #1 in the country for social work? I don't remember.

Undergrad business is ranked #12.

Poli sci (my other interest) is ranked #16 (i think that's grad though?)

architecture is pretty good, i think, although I don't know the ranking.

I don't mean to sound this way, but why did you apply to Wash U if you didn't know or worst case think it was good?

they sent me too much mail. I felt bad if I didn't apply. Yep. I'm an idiot, but a polite one.

Well, if they are strong in your academic areas, then you should definitely consider going. :] the campus is niiiiice.

I was thinking about Biology/Physics and either Psych/Econ

is Wash U strong in those fields?

WUStL has an excellent Bio program. It's one of those schools that has recently developed most of its programs into top-20 or top-30 programs. You don't have to worry about how specifically strong a program is - there are so many colleges in the nation that when a school's program is in the top 20 or top 10, it's bound to be just as good as all the others near its ranking.

Check out their Biomedical program. It would cover your interests of both Biology and Physics with the various tracks offered. It's currently ranked 14th, but for a program that began in 1987, that's fast growth in recognition! They've built a new BME building which opened Fall of 2004, have hired additional faculty from around the country to support the growing program and it has the additional plus of being connected with one of the top med schools in the country.

Be wary though, BME is not for the weak. It is arguably the hardest major on campus and weeds out a lot of students in the first semester. If you are looking for premed- the Bio program is great - it switches back and forth with Psych for being the most popular major in ArtSci.
