Why isn't NYU apart of CC top universities?

NY is argue arguably the greatest city on earth

CC uses universities that frequently appear in the US News “Top 25” (with the exception of the Ivy League, which gets its own section).

Yep, agree with Billy. We were 32nd nationally the year I applied, 33rd the year after, and we’ll see where we end up this coming year. Stern is dropping too, 4th nationally my year, 5th the year after … want to see if we climb again this year.

To be frank, I’m surprised we’re as high as we are. Tier 1, yes. Top-35 surprises me given how loose the admissions standards are in some of the other schools.

^If NYU consisted solely of Stern, CAS, and Tisch, it would be Top 25 without a doubt. I don’t want to point fingers, but certain schools (cough cough, Nursing, SCPS, LSP cough cough) bring things down a bit.

^ What’s SCPS?

You do realize that LSP is not a school right? And NYU’s nursing is one of the top in the nation. And do you even know what the SCPS program’s purpose is? I’m going to assume you don’t because then you wouldn’t have berated the three programs/school above.

Don’t do that whole cough thing. It makes you look cough immature cough. See what I’m getting at?

saxsky: I’ve been at NYU for almost 3 years. I know LSP is not a separate school – it is a subdivision of the Faculty of Arts & Science that acts as a cash cow by allowing more students into the university while keeping CAS’s admissions rate low. SCPS is an amalgam of majors that don’t fit into the other schools. You may have a point about nursing but I doubt its objective admission standards are at the level of CAS, Stern, Tisch.

Please don’t question my credibility, let alone my maturity. I know this school pretty well. You’re not even a student. I’m not actually suggesting SCPS/LSP/Nursing be cut. My point is that NYU is quite bloated, and if it wants to climb in rankings, somethings got to give.

I don’t think the location of schools is used as the basis for making this determination.

JSex is trying his best to make inroads, so we’ll have to wait and see…

If you’re going to be an elitist, be a good one. CAS is nowhere near the level of Stern and Tisch. Tisch is top 2 nationally, Stern is top 5. CAS is floating somewhere in the top 35.
