NYU is a really great school, though it isn't quite one of the tippy top elites by many measures. Then again, CC's "top college" list has some colleges I wouldn't put on there.

A great school is where the student will be happy. Trite? Yes. True? Absolutely. I didn't go to NYU but the overwhelming number of alumni are proud they did. Many Ivy grads are proud of their schools but did not necessarily like the experience. Go visit and stay over.

You'll be happy to know that NYU is on my list of noteworthy colleges. If you're applying to NYU, you may want to add some of those other colleges to your application list as back-ups.

"Well Emory is there and so is like the UCs. I thought that NYU was at least on par with said universities. I could be mistaken though."

Emory is better than NYU (not by a ton, but better)

Berkeley and UCLA are definitely better than NYU.
In which case, berkeley is better than nearly every school in the world if you wanna talk about graduate studies...i mean at least for grad school, nearly every department is top 5 best in the US.

NYU is a very good school, but does not deserve any spot as TOP if the top.

And stern is difficult to get into, but not quite Ivy difficult.

NYU...on the rankings list in US and news...its lower than USC..and i just read a thread about why USC wasn't a top uni...i think the chances of getting into nYU are bigger than USC, so if USC isn't a top uni on CC, NYU's a longer way down the line..
