<p>I know an extremely bright girl who just graduated from Pomona in May near the top of the class and could not get a job. She is waitressing. Many go to grad school. It’s a tough market out there.</p>

<p>That’s a sad story, often told, everywhere in the country right now. It is not an indication of the quality of education at Pomona, nor a bellwether of the future prospects for college’s graduates.</p>
<p>It’s the overall nonsense of one-size-fits-none rankings. Fewer than half of colleges responded this year. It’ll die out.</p>
