Why isn't the SAT computerized?

it may be difficult to stare at a screen for four hours straight, but come on....scores back on the spot..how is that beatable?

SATs are taken worldwide so only computerized testing would not be feasible. However, a combination of the two could potentially work. The MCATs were recently computerized and I know that the GMATs are also computerized and actually gives you your score immediately after taking the exam!

If it's computerized, then the location of the test (due to the quality of computers on-site) will factor into how well the test goes. No matter how good you are, if you have a crappy computer that lags + a barely-functioning mouse, you're not going to do as well as you ought.

To be honest, CB would get tons of calls about how it discriminates against the poor and it would be a public relations disaster. (I don't think MCATs/GMATs are for that large of a population, so those could be easier to computerize than the SATs.)

then don't take the MCAT.

poor folk aren't computer literate, and, as etselec touched on, it would require like 2.6 million computers properly spread out
