Why isn't UCSD in the "CC Top Universities" List?

<p>I always wonder this when I go to that section. When we talk about the three top UCs, we utter Cal, UCLA and UCSD in the same breath. And it is usually considered a top class uni in the areas of medicine and biomedical engineering. Then the question is why isn't UCSD in the list?</p>

<p>PS: I am going to UCLA so I have no vested interest regarding UCSD...just curious.</p>

<p>The CC Top Universities list consists of the top 25 National Universities as ranked by US News & World Report.</p>

<p>UNC Chapel Hill is 27...</p>

<p>UC's are divided into three tiers, starting with the best:</p>

<p>1) Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD
2) UCI, UCSB, UCD
3) UCR, UCSC, UC Merced</p>

<p>I didn't add UCSF because it doesn't have an undergrad program.</p>

<p>all CC top Universities have a rank 25 or better except UNC (27) and all have a peer assessment of 4.0 or better except Notre Dame (3.9)</p>

<p>UCSD is ranked 32nd and has a PA of 3.9, so it is qualified in neither of these areas</p>

<p>well when I was applying for the UCs in my senior year in hs, he said that the UCs are usually divided within these three groups. </p>

<p>a lot of things go into consideration when schools are ranked, like funding, academic performance, graduation rate, etc...</p>

<p>guys guys we all know University of Maryland- College Park beats Univeristy of North Carolina - Chappel Hill or Michigan- Ann Arbor. lol</p>

<p>i have seen a lot of posts where other posters ask the same question in regards to ucsd and why its not in the cc's top universities list. i believe it does belong there, however, lets wait and see what the new us news ranking and peer assesment score is in a week or two. if it moves up, especially in regards to peer asessment, then it should deffiantly be included. although i already feel it should make the list.</p>

<p>LOL. And students from UCLA say they have overtaken Cal, and Cal kids say they have overtaken half the privates on USnews top 20. It's a cycle.</p>
