Why list colleges "in priority order"?

On the act site, when you pick schools to have your free score reports sent to, why does it say "When all your score report choices are listed in priority order"? Surely they dont tell colleges what order you picked? Or is it so they just send out the reports in priority order?

They do tell colleges which choice they were.

...they do? 0_0

wow. thats stupid.

I think that was a bit of sarcasm...

Yes, they do. Colleges know if they were your 1st choice, 2nd, etc. when you registered, or a score report ordered later, after your scores came out.

Order a report for college code 7000 (sealed college report sent to you). Then you'll see everything colleges do.

damn i just put my top four colleges down (in no particular order)

that really sucks. does it affect admissions decisions in any way??

Stop freaking out...Admissions officers, I'm sure, know students don't know this. Not only that, but they have TONS of applicants. Ultimately, things like this will not make or break you in the college admissions game...

lol my "damn" was more of an "oh well" damn instead of an "oh ****" damn.

I don't believe this. I will call today. If so, my son is in trouble because the schools he had to list on one application ( a school asked him to rank other schools he was applying to) won't match up with what ACT is sending out. I don't think schools have a right to know where else you're applying.

I just heard back from ACT and Mrs. Ferguson (0 posts) is mistaken. They do not make any mention of any other colleges that are receiving test scores.

That's not what I said. I said colleges know which choice THEY were; they don't know what other schools you put down or the order of those other schools.

As if they'd compare that to what the kid put on his application. Sheesh.
