Brown is a wonderful place and I love it, but I just wanted to know if anyone has any reasons they would NOT go to Brown. This is not meant to be a thread for Brown-bashing or hating, but just noting some concerns people had about brown.

You should have titled the thread concerns about Brown.

But my only concern is CAN I GET IN lol? Probably not but life’s a gamble #apply

From what I’ve gathered around this forum so far:

Pretty below average overall dorms and meals (for a school of its caliber, that is). Not sure if they’re better than Columbia’s though.

“Out of nowhere”, but this can be said for several other peer schools.

Not the most beautiful campus.

Those don’t usually turn students off though, considering all the good things you can get from Brown. For your information, I’m not a Brown student.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are times I am on Brown’s campus and I find it breathtakingly beautiful.

It would be accurate to say that most of the campus is not like college in a movie and there are parts of campus that are rather utilitarian, but much of Brown is actually quite nice, especially in autumn.

I live near the Brown Campus and it is really quite picturesque. It has that old New England feel about it …especially during the changing of the seasons and is much more quaint than the sprawling campuses of larger universities.
