I just found some data which I thought was worthwhile sharing. Primary funding source of international undergraduate student in the US:

79% family resources
11% U.S. university
5% home government

5% other: U.S. and foreign private organizations, U.S. government, current employment

Here’s the statistics for all students (including graduate students, non-degree-seeking students and students on OPT):
[2008-10 | Primary Source of Funding | International Students | Open Doors Data](http://www.iie.org/Research-and-Publications/Open-Doors/Data/International-Students/Primary-Source-of-Funding/2008-10.aspx)

I got the breakdown for undergraduate students via email inquiry.
