So someone just clear this up for me once and for all…

WHY DO PEOPLE GET SO *#@09$# ANGRY WHEN PEOPLE SAY “UPENN” IF THE SCHOOL’S WEB ADDRESS IS UPENN.EDU?!?!??!

I felt like I didn’t know enough about Ivies to even be applying when someone corrected me way back in the day, but the more times I see people corrected lately the more it seems to be this silly little elitest thing.

I know this is a just a repeat of what was said in the article, but Penn is the official nickname. Why do you think all their apparel, promotional info, etc. says Penn? Because it's official! Who knows why the website name is upenn.edu..maybe to distinguish it from Penn State? But really..just call it Penn. It's not harder, if anything it's easier because it's one less syllable. What if your name was John and everyone called you Johnny, but you really just wanted to be called John?..Kinda the same thing!

reading that article, i have to say i agree with one of those comments: if theres ONE thing i dont like about this school, its our name. its as lame as it gets. lol.
and yet we embrace penn when spking with ppl who kno wat it is. and upenn or the university of pennsylvania with ppl who don't. just clear up the confusion, guys. it doesnt take too much effort.
