Harvard and Princeton are much stronger than Yale in mathematics, economics and hard sciences (physics, etc.). Yale is a good choice for arts and humanities or for postgraduate professional schools like Law or Medicine. Otherwise, it is mostly overrated.

I'd choose Yale or Princeton over Harvard in a heartbeat because of the emphasis on undergraduate education.

I don't really put much weight on the "emphasis on undergraduate education" argument, not least because, unlike the LAC crowd, I don't believe there is a conflict between graduate education/research and strength of undergraduate programs. In fact, quite the contrary, I believe modern universities cannot offer quality undergraduate degrees without faculty members who are heavily involved in cutting-edge, state-of-the-art research. Accordingly, in my personal opinion, academic reputation and scholarly productivity, more so than anything else, should be the main factors when choosing a college. As I said before, at least in math, science and engineering, Harvard's (and Princeton's) academic reputation seems to be much greater than Yale's and that's why I'd pick the former over the latter.

Out of HYPS, which one would be best for someone planning to go to med school majoring in biology or chemistry?

Inaina, care to share your story? YOu can PM me too if you want. But I'm reallly curious!
