Why now?

Okay. So some alumni from Vassar contacted me two days ago and wants an interview. Why are they waiting until now to do an interview? I'm suppossed to be hearing back by schools by like next week not just going to an interview. This is inconvenient and ridiculous.

Even though I understand where you’re coming from, at the same time you really don’t have to do the interview if you don’t want to. Vassar interviews hardly affect your admissions decision, if at all. It’s totally up to you if you want to know more about the school.

this happened to my classmate.
he applied ED and they called him up like three days before decisions came out.
he had a great interview and three days later he was accepted.
you should should totally do it. it made all the difference for this guy.
vassar is on the fence about you, and you need to prove to them that you’re worth it.
interview and interview well… no pressure.

Haha. Thanks guys. I ended up doing the interview. This thread was made out of anger b/c of them doing this last minute, etc. The interview actually went very well and made me consider Vassar to a greater extent.

Interviews are non-evaluative at Vassar. They’re there for you to have the chance to interact with an alum and learn about the college. This is why they can be as close to decisions as they’d like it to be (perhaps to their own benefit; people usually leave feeling better about a school after an interview).

We werent called for an interview

Neither was I. But I personally know a Vassar alum who does interviews and she mentioned explicitly that I didn’t have to worry about losing an evaluative opportunity.

I think that Considering is right – the school is trying to decide on its decision about you, and wanted to check you out! Good thing you did the interview.

Beatfreaks - wow, seriously? They waited till now? When did you contact Vassar to schedule an interview?

I’m sure it didn’t/wouldn’t have affected your application one bit. :)

Like I’ve mentioned, the interview is non-evaluative. Its purpose is to inform you about Vassar and perhaps indirectly, to convince you to attend.
