Why Penn?

What makes Penn different from other ivy leagues? I’m trying to choose colleges, and when I get to the high ranking schools, its difficult to pick out their differences. So, any help would be appreciated.

Alright bud, lemme give ya a few things:

1) Penn has a Ben Franklin statue in the main college green
2) Penn has a giant button in front of the library, courtesy of a B. Frank legend (as a button left his shirt, his outfit decided to do the same to his body)
3) Penn has another statue of B. Frank, this time sitting on a bench, reading a copy of Hustler (according to most reliable annals and historians)
4) B. Frank was one of the main trustees of Penn, and helped its founding and growth by bribing local officials to keep them from using it as a penthouse (or so the story goes)

So those are some really solid reasons to start off with. All you need to really keep in mind is B. Frank

Well personally, I'm interested in Penn because it is in Philadelphia, which is one of my favorite cities. The location is great because you're in a large city but you also have a very nice, traditional campus.

Also, UPenn seems to have a spirit that the other Ivies don't have. It seems like every student thinks it is the greatest place in the world, and they wouldn't settle for anywhere else. Also, Penn attracts some of the smartest people in the world, but they also know how to party and have a good time.

So for me; Philly, spirit, and simultaneously studying and having a good time

Same could be said of Dartmouth, maybe Princeton too.

That definitely could be said about Brown, probably also Columbia, Yale, Cornell & Harvard.

I think one of the biggest draws is the emphasis and encouragement of interdisciplinary study - such as being able to get 2 undergraduate degrees from different schools.

Being in Philly is also a huge draw. And Penn students definitely achieve a healthy balance between academics and social lives.
