Why Princeton?

If it were me, I’d choose Princeton. Its a nicer place, it has a better reputation, and it has almost unmatched resources with the size of its per-student endowment.

For all the advantages Princeton gives you, I’d think you have to be very sure you prefer Duke in order to pick it over Princeton.

No… That would be one argument. You seem to be favoring Duke, I would advise you choose the school you want to attend and don’t let people on an internet forum dissuade you.

Silver and Jersey… I really am divided, I am just playing devil’s advocate on this post, as I will on the Duke post if I get a reply.

Oh ya, thanks christian soldier for reminding me :D

go to Duke please so you don’t interfere with the curve in my engineering classes (if you happen to be one of those smart people).

And then I’ll have one person less competition for when I’m looking for jobs wooohooo

Igspay, ehay illway akemay hetay urvecay asiereay orfay ouyay.

As I indicated above, reputations (i.e., “names”) often have basis in reality.

Conversely, reputation can create its own reality.

What do you want to do after graduation? Do you intend to pursue a graduate degree in engineering?

Again, playing the advocate… Duke has a great reputation, especially in the medical field, a prospective postgraduate route for me. Additionally, everyone who has posted is from the North, and, after visiting a few Northern schools, it seemed to me that many Yankee schools do not view Duke as having a great name, while down South, Duke is very highly regarded.

^exactlyy, just go to Duke

question: why are you disregarding MIT?

Since you brought up Med School:
<a href=“WSJ in Higher Education | Trusted News & Real-World Insights”>WSJ in Higher Education | Trusted News & Real-World Insights;

Princeton is the #3 feeder school, behind Harvard & Yale even though Princeton itself doesn’t have a professional school.

I was wondering the same thing.

ohhh, I UNDERSTAND christan!
changed my mind, GO TO PRINCETON!

PERSONAL OPINION

I visited MIT for three days after being accepted and recruited to walk on to D-I crew. I loved the school, but I found the social scene and student body to be lacking. Though I am passionate about the sciences, I enjoy literature and history, and MIT was very track focused. I wanted to go to a school with a more eclectic student body (ie not all engineers) and offered more than just math and sciences.

^omg i thought the same exact thing. especially the lacking student body part

Duke might be a big name in the South, but remember that Princeton is historically the Ivy of choice of the Southern gentry.

Throwback to Jersey… I have seen that WSJ ranking and it weighs heavily on my mind (though Duke is #6).

Go to MIT!!! Why aren’t you choosing between MIT and Princeton?

mgoya hristiancya erewya oinggya otya hetya amesya ollegecya taya astlya!!! oohoowya

like oneweek said, MIT doesn’t have that vibrant student body. It’s a can be dull for some people and feel like a vocational school at times
