Hello,
I am an undergraduate student at Rice University. I just wanted to share with y’all about an extracurricular activity that many high school students do not tap into: research. Research opportunities consist of working with professors at universities near you and performing experiments to change the world (research is not limited to only science). Although the process is not always glorious and it can be really challenging, I believe it is a fundamental experience you need before you decide your career path. Research can provide you with experiences and opportunities in your field of interest that normal high schools can never provide. Not only does it allow you to better understand what your future can consist of, it can provide many opportunities for you as a student. With research, you can begin to participate in a variety of research competitions, scholarships, and even get into the college of your dreams. (I know this because I attended a high school where research was the priority.)
With that said, I just wanted to let y’all know about an opportunity that my classmates and I have created for high school students called Scope Research (https://scoperesearch.team ). We help connect students to professors that are interested in having high school students in their lab. This service is completely FREE. Just fill out an application and we will get back to you! In addition to helping students connect with professors, we also teach students how to find and contact professors for themselves. If you have any questions feel free to contact me here or through email (contactscoperesearch@gmail.com). Thank y’all so much for your time!
