Why self study a course?

Do you get college credit or something? (Not even sure how that works)

Or maybe to win some happy points and nods of approval from adcoms?

AP Psychology seems interesting, but I'm not sure if my school provides it as we don't have a class. I looked around the AP site of the collegeboard but couldn't find a school finder thingamjig. hold my hand?

Thanks dude

“Self studying” an AP class is preparing for the AP exam without taking the corresponding class. The benefit is that a class doesn’t have to fit in a schedule to self-study, and a passing exam score still ends up granting college credit at those colleges that grant AP credit. If your school doesn’t offer the AP Psychology class, you could still take the exam after other methods of preparation.

there’s several reasons to self studying for an AP
1: your school doesn’t offer the class but you want/need to take it
2: your schedule conflicts with a class, but you want credit
3: you don’t want to waste a year studying for the exam (if you feel really ready for it)

either way you get AP credit for theexam taken.

Ooh posted this thread a little too soon, found a sticky at the AP test preparation section. Sorry guys

But thanks for the quick responses. Cool community I gotta say
