I've gotten letter from Harvard, USC, Cal State Long beach, and Pitt State to play basketball. Harvard's got great academics I guess (you obviously have some tradition.), but you guys are just terrible in terms of sports.

usc is prolly ur best chance at an ncaa tourny bid...lol, if that's what you're looking for, and they're second on that list in terms of quality academic programs...

Do you have a shot at going to the NBA after college? If so, then choose the school with the best team. If not, then, in my opinion, I would choose the school that is going to benifit me the most in the long run, which is probably Harvard. So unless you have a realistic shot at going to the NBA after college, I would advise choosing Harvard. Just my two cents.

harvard b-ball stinks. they're the only team that hasn't won the ivy league championship in the 50 yrs since the league began.

well, that's the thing. I'm really skinny, but pretty tall. That works in high school, kinda in college, but I'm thinking maybe if I work out enough, maybe I can get a spot on the NBA

you are not going to get into the NBA, and if you are good enough to play in the NBA, you would dominate at Harvard, probably transfer to a better basketball school and go to the NBA from there, so if I were you, I would choose harvard, b/c if you are good enough to make it into the NBA, you can make it from any school, and if it turns out you aren't good enough, at least you will have earned a great education and a harvard degree

yeah, besides if you do make it from into the nba from harvard, you can market yourself as a smart humble athlete and make big advertising dollars. id pick harvard man, but i guess that is what you expect from someone at the harvard thread.

you would also be the first person in the nba from harvard, as they've never sent one to the big leagues.

which also says somethign about the quality of their program/player development in all likelihood--if you want to make the NBA you will need excellent coaches AND raw incredible talent.

Yeah go with Harvard! If you can make it into the NBA, you'll have the education background and the Harvard name. I don't mean to discourage you, but it's TOUGH to get into the NBA. So, you might as well go with the better education. If you have the drive, the courage, and the initiative - then my friend you can BE the FIRST person that Harvard sends to the NBA. Good luck to you! Follow your dreams man!

-Jon :)

yeah, since you arent heavily recruited by top d-1 programs, it's evident that you're not a strong prospect for the nba...go with the academic program that suits your interests best

I think you should skip college and go pro in origami creation.

Harvard is an amazing place and if you can get recruited to it off your athletic ability then by all means take that opportunity and run with it! Because when you're too old and fat to run you'll still have that Harvard diploma!

"I think you should skip college and go pro in origami creation."

Hahahaha. You're such a dork.

I think if basketball is your passion--no, let me self-edit--if playing on a great basketball team is your passion, Harvard might not be for you. But if you just want to play "for the love of the game," the optimist in me says you'd be happy no matter where you were, as long as you were playing.

Hey yeah! That's the way you ought to look at it! I couldn't have said it better (even the dork part) LOL. Well put saxfreq1128! Good luck to you Negro! I hope you end up making the choice you feel is best!

-Jon :) :D

go to USC... you have about a 0 shot to the NBA from harvard

Did you apply ED to Penn/Wharton as you claimed you'd be doing, or did you change your mind?

"I'm Applying ED to Wharton... Do I stand a chance?
Hey, I visited Penn and was in love with it right away. I wanted to know what you guys thought about my resume and whether or not there were things I could do to improve my chances. I was reluctant to see Penn, but I'm glad I did and I know this place is perfect for me. All the other schools I viisted were not bad, but none of them stood out like Penn! I'm so excited!"

Honestly, go to USC. You will have a pretty good b-ball team and a pretty good education to go along with the it.

I mean yeah Harvard will be great, but you need the right b-ball people around you to help you get better in a good b-ball program.

Plus, USC is in CA and there is nice weather.
