Why should I go to Brown?

Why should I got to Brown???

Didn’t you answer this in your application…? Go back and read that essay again. Go to a quiet place. Reflect. Oh, and if you’re into physics, I can give you one reason: 60 undergrads (15/year), 26 professors.

Why? Because Emma Watson is going there. If it’s good enough for Hermione it’s good enough for you.

Are there any requirements?

The requirement is that you come up with a college transcript that makes you attractive to grad schools or employers or whatever it is you want to do. If you have trouble making up your mind what that is, the school will give you advice.

So then what do you do your freshman year?

You take classes that you have scholarly interest in or move you toward whatever goal you have. You have to take some initiative.

@coolbreeze:
Haha.
When I visited Cambridge(the one in GB-haha) everybody said she’d go there.
And to tell the truth, I can 100% understand her.
Cambridge has an insane reputation in all Natscis, but no reputation in the world can make me go there again…:D

Or in Homer Simpson’s Words
“USA! USA! USA!”

So if you decide your major from day 1, why can’t you graduate after 3 years?

Also, when are brown preview days?

You definitely should have gotten some mailing from Brown inviting you to their preview weekend… have you been on the Admitted Students website?

Also, about the majors: The purpose of any liberal arts education at any college is to learn about diverse and interesting things for 4 years. You don’t attend a college like Brown just to bang out a major and go.

hollyert is correct. It’s the classic Ivy League model; undergrad education is a broad, liberal arts education and grad school is to prepare you for your profession.

I’ve always admired Brown but for the opposite reason: it’s not a classic liberal arts education, hence no requirements whatsoever, hence you can take whatever you want and they can’t tell you that you should be more well rounded etc. do you know what i mean?

Pass/fail?

Hahaha @coolbreeze. I want to include that reasoning in my Brown supplement.
