Why should I go to Wash U over Georgetown and Northwestern? I'm probably a poly-sci major, a hard worker, socially normal kid... probably law-schooler... I visited them all... and like them all... Georgetown would make the most sense... (I would transfer to SFS)... but it ranks pretty low compared to the others. Nobody knows about Wash U, which may be tough for job. Wash U seemed like the most normal of people... prettiest campus...? Any other input?

wut do u mean no one has heard of washu? Wow, for the last time (well im sure it won't be)...anyone who matters in giving you a job or admissions into grad school knows a lot about WashU. I swear people act like they'll go into a job interview and say "i graduated from WashU" and the employer will be like "Hmm...what is that, is it acredited?" Now, will people value a School X degree in field Y over a WashU degree is a different story; however, a WashU degree will be known, respected, and take you fare in the real world. Sure, Washington University in St. Louis doesn't roll off the tounge like Harvard does and your next door neighbor who also thinks that the ivy league is made up of Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Priceton and MIT hasn't heard of the school doesn't mean the people who matter in the real world haven't. So please, stop saying no one has heard of the place. If one is shallow enough to choose the next four years of their life around trying to impress a bunch of nobodies on the street by saying they go to a name brand college, then fine...I don't want you to come to WashU anyway; however, if you like the school and it is top ranked...then the name will be known by people. I wonder how WashU is even ranked in the top 25 if "no one" knows about it. Wut are people just picking schools from a hat or just putting a blind fold on and pointing at something?

Now, as for why you should come to WashU. I must also note that Georgetown, Northwestern and WashU are on equal footing. GW's rank is meaningless as all of the Top 25 schools could be pretty much ranked in any order. I think you should come to WashU because we have the best mix of great academics and social/party life, imo. All the people are nice @ WashU, the food is great and the dorms are nice. We are in a big enough city where you'll have fun(believe it or not, there is something to do in St. Louis...just check out the thread), but we aren't imersed into the hustle and bustle of the biggest metropolis where the school gets overshadowed.

WashU is all about making its students happy. Very few people regret going there. A lot of students turn down the most name brand schools in the countries to get here and they never look back. Either of your choices is fine indeed. A degree from any of them will get you in big places, so its all about where your fit in and see yourself for four years the most

Good luck

Yes I realize that... I base some of it on personal experience... considering whenever I say to my friends/teachers I am considering Wash U and Georgetown and NU... they look at me very beffudled like... and I'm from the midwest...

I also say it because of my experience with my cousin, who got straight A's at Wash U, interned every summer at various places, and is getting rejected from most law schools (LSAT unknown).... so ya... although each moment I lean towards another place... I learn towards wash u right now for some reason... it just seems warm and friendly compared to Georgetown/ NU.

Well said Jeffwun! If cousin didn't not get into law school it has everything to do with her, not Wash U. Most likely she did not do well on the LSAT. I mean Wash U's law school is highly respected.
