Why do people submit their SIR before the deadline? Are there any benefits to submitting it early?

To me, it's kind of like turning in a test before the time is over. So would it hurt me to submit my SIR on say, April 30th/31st?

At a lot of schools it helps to register for housing early. Plus, what if something went wrong. And like, for the waitlist kids.

If you do want to submit it, then you should at least admit to yourself you're not 100% ready to commit to the school. And then ask yourself: why not?

Some kids can make their decisions quickly, and then want the process finished. If they know where they want to go, why wait? However, if you're not sure, and are still deciding between two or more schools, there's no harm in waiting (except perhaps for housing, but even that varies from school to school).
