Why should I take more exams than required?

If I already have credits from colleges and the required ap exams to get sophmore standing, why should I take more? Or why did YOU take more?

I took more because I enjoy the challenge, simple as that. For example, I took AP English Lang last year and got a 5 so I decided to opt for Honors English this year since I wouldn't need another APEng credit (and since I'd already be taking 5 APs). I lasted 2 weeks before I switched into AP English Lit. The quality of teaching is better and there aren't as many slackers. I'm going to be starting college with around 50 credit hours already under my belt, assuming all my credits transfer (which they probably won't, since I'll only be able to use some of them for electives).

There's my answer. APs are good stuff!

what about self-study aps?

I took more APs for the same reasons as es.mi.vida- the classes are just more fun! I'll have taken 9 by the end of senior year. I guess that for self-study APs don't have that benefit and are only if you really want to prove that you're willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. That might be a good thing, actually, as long as you think you can do all those APs and still have good ECs etc.
