Why should or shouldn't I attend BU?

Hi everyone,
I was recently accepted at BU with a 52.5k (almost full tuition) scholarship and a 3.4k housing grant and the remaining costs are 16k. Given that I was offered that amount of aid and it is such an amazing school , I am wondering from any past or current students, is there any reason I shouldn’t or should go here? My biggest concern is the grade deflation(if anyone could explain what that is and how it affects you) and if I’ll be able to afford it, given that tuition isn’t locked. Any advice would be welcomed. It’s down to BU or Miami of OH, who also offered full tuition (16k). I am an Ohio Native and am currently planning on becoming a researcher or doctor. Thanks.

Seems like there are some pretty big differences. Miami is in a college town; BU is urban. BU USN&WR ranking (for what those are worth is 42, whereas Miami is 96. Don’t know about grade deflation, but personally I don’t believe there would be any differences between the two. MIami will be closer to home for you, if that is important. The good news is that you will be fine at either place.

Assuming that paying the remaining cost after grants will not create a hardship for your family I would suggest BU. This is a time in your life to broaden your horizons in a large city and a diverse university. You can always return to Ohio after graduation if that is the place you want to settle down.

@drainedbrain @TomSrOfBoston Thank you so much for your advice! The remaining cost for Miami and BU are relatively the same, so if it is down to choosing, I am leaning towards BU. Again, thank you!
