The first school on the list you linked to seems to be a tremendous high school. It doesn’t field its own sports teams, but it’s an incredible opportunity for the enrolled students.

Then I found this: [Board Votes to Withdraw from International Academy - Farmington-Farmington Hills, MI Patch](<a href=“http://farmington-mi.patch.com/articles/board-votes-to-withdraw-from-international-academy]Board ”>http://farmington-mi.patch.com/articles/board-votes-to-withdraw-from-international-academy ).
Board President Howard Wallach favored the IB, even though he recognizes that the IA is an amazing place. Its a difficult choice to start the IB, he said, but it hasnt been a terribly difficult choice for me. He said hes always been a supporter of IA, but in this economic climate he said he cant spend the money to educate a relative few.

Wallach said he and his colleagues spent much time hearing all the information about the IB program, thoughtfully listened to hours of citizen comments about the programs, and are independent-minded about making their decisions.

And we have to look at not just 60 students, he said. We have 12,000 kids.
