AHahaa. The experiments actually involved a lot of clicking. But another one was like "eat all the funyons or candy (pick one) you want" and I was like " I GET PAID FOR THIS???"

HAHAH! that's SWEET!!! Stanford it is then....hahah!

Interdisciplinary atmosphere, relaxed student body, the interesting, diverse students who populate Stanford, great reputation, AWESOME campus, great weather, near San Francisco, great sports, all-round awesome school in everything: humanities to physics, etc. There's so much I could say about how much I love this school. GO STANFORD!

it smells good there

Actually it doesn't. Especially over the summer, there can be some smelly plants around. And ESPECIALLY on east campus dr as you pass the power plant. Low levels of toxic bacteria. mmmm.

hyps-top schools
s-stanford

there are a bunch of better reasons, but the prestige is for a lot of people (at least in the back of their minds) one of the most important factors.

need to escape new york city neuroses

maybe stanford can cure me? if any school can, its the one

So I can say..."Yeah. I'm in at Stanford...."

.....to random people on the street

and then wear shorts...during winter and be like "I'll be wearing this when I'm at Stanford..."

.....to random people on the street.

haha, on second thought, see above

So, besides being one of the top 3 universities in the US, what else is bad about Stanford?

"So, besides being one of the top 3 universities in the US, what else is bad about Stanford?"

Unless you have a car, it's a pain to get off the campus. There's a free shuttle bus, but it doesn't go everywhere, and the schedule is hardly 24-7. Even once you get off, there's nowhere to go - Palo Alto is a very wealthy area, and the result is that there aren't many restaurants, stores, or bars that cater to students.

The environment is more conservative than at other top colleges & universities. Some people consider this a bug, though of course others consider it a feature.

You have to take 150% of the exams students take at semester-system schools.

im not to keen on partying-i dont plan on drinking ever. is stanford the place to be?

"The environment is more conservative than at other top colleges & universities. Some people consider this a bug, though of course others consider it a feature."

what do you mean!?!

I mean that Stanford's relative conservatism may be a good or bad thing, depending on what your political views are like.

i have always thought they were about hte most liberal around besides berkeley

It depends what you're comparing them to. My sense is that this place is more liberal than the country at large, but more conservative than competitors like the Ivies. There's a right-wing think tank smack in the middle of the campus!

I'll be taking a Math Olympiad prep course in the EPGY summer program next summer. That'll be the deciding factor.

yea i thogt they were liberal too!

This is an interesting article about the leanings of stanford students- basically that they are liberal

epgy isnt a deciding factor
